Lore Rework in Progress!

Time for Change

Hey! I know it’s probably a bit strange, but I’m doing a massive lore rework for my blood fairies. Visuals will stay mostly the same, but story will change to be more in line with the roots of this project. The reason this is happening is because I finished doing my “homework” on the folklore of planet Earth and wish to revamp a few things…

The blood fairy project this site was initially built for used to be a small sweet project about different kinds of bats – I started that project back in 2011, when I was working for a big game developer, and didn’t have much time for my own stuff… Since that project also had desmodus rotundus, commonly known as “vampire bat”, I started digging into the info on the biology of these animals, as well as the vampire lore and why it is associated with those little cute blood suckers…

Well, quite a misadventure I soon found myself in. Vampires are not what I expected from my quite superficial knowledge of them back at the moment. You could say I effectively got myself into a fix because I sought talking to “vampires”, and that led to bad consequences… Me being sensitive to spirits, I can tell that my deep dive into the topic of vampirism attracted a lot of entities no one wants around. I always thought of vampires as creatures that can shapeshift, fly freely in the night, and have cool adventures, but in reality they are greedy, shallow individuals, plagued by a myriad of vices. If we talk about vampiric spirits, they’re quite primitive and can’t really shape-shift… but they can convince you that you are talking to someone else.

Because of all the negative experiences I have had with vampires and because of what kinds of people would get attracted whenever I tagged my anything with “vampire”, I decided to completely drop the term from my project. My blood fairies are non-obligatory hematophages, which means blood is a supplementary resource for them, not their main food. They also share almost nothing in common with vampires, except maybe shape-shifting, but it isn’t done magically, nor are they undead.

Whoever followed me or this site because they assumed typical vampire stuff will be coming from me in the future – sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not going to happen. Blood fairies are a sci-fi/fantasy project with heavy adventure vibes, despite some ominous characters appearing as antagonists in it. All parts of my lore that have been influenced by my spiritual and physical surrounding in the course of the past few years will be rewritten to better correspond to the original goals of this project.

I will always think of other distractions and involvements that derailed my initial idea as obstacles. Luckily, there are good people and spirits out there who have been cheering me up through those trying times and I am now ready to come back on track with proper creativity!
