Honestly speaking, I have always wanted to develop video games, especially platformers. Yesterday, I once again explored the topic of free game engines. My previous research led me to the conclusion that I couldn’t find a better alternative to Godot/Redot, but I didn’t want to learn a new scripting language, so I tried to find something more familiar. Since I have a background in creating dynamic graphic elements with JavaScript, I tried to find a game library for this scripting language, and all the fingers pointed to Phaser. However, upon closer examination through the prism of a person who had already dealt with Phaser, it turned out that Godot/Redot is still better.
Of course, I was very angry at that prospect. After all, I’m going to have to learn a whole new engine with scripting that I know nothing about. At first, I even decided to give up completely and focus on creating my stories in the form of comic books, but very soon I realized that it would not be enough for me. I want people to be able to interact with my worlds, not just observe them. So I decided to start studying Godot/Redot. Yes, it will be hard for me, but the web is full of tutorials and examples, and there are even paid courses that I am likely to take. It is better to go after the dream than to give up and forget about it, because without a dream there is no real point in life.
Just like yesterday, I’ll spend most of my day doing creative work. By cutting news feed reading to a minimum, I successfully boosted my mood and reduced unnesessary time loss. I moved all the online communication to the morning hours, leaving the rest of the day to my personal needs, so as not to be distracted and not to worry about trifling matters.
Now I at least don’t feel like the whole world has rushed ahead of me, and I’m lagging behind.
