Circumstances of Creation

| Visual style | Attempt to improve the official style, based on initial concepts for the game and developer interviews |
| Creation motivation | I discovered the acute shortage of mad science in Psychonauts and set a precedent for the development of this topic |
Necrotica was created spontaneously – after finishing the playthrough of the first game about the Psychonauts. It so happened that I got acquainted with this game only in 2023, buying it at a sale in one package with a shiny new sequel. Having decided that the games should be played in order of release, I played the original first. I can’t say I completely liked it, and it obviously looked like a game for adults (mostly because of the adult humor). But I liked the idea. Besides, I was going to write a psychic character and craved inspiration.
Kiraya Necrotica (formerly Lenora Romanova) is a mad doctoress with a bunch of implants. It all began with the loss of arms, when a little Lenora tried to save a bat whom her evil classmates were going to bathe in acid. Both of Lenora’s arms were severely burned and had to be amputated. However, the bat she saved lived with her for several years until its term. Having buried a good friend and believing that bats are much better companions than humans, Lenora found her dream – to give bats an advanced mind, thus creating a new species of humanoids.
She now lives on a remote island where her biopsyonic laboratory is located. Having joined the Guardians of Sentience in her youth, Necrotica practices psyonic influence on living organisms in order to change them. Despite the fact that many of her experimental bats acquired advanced intelligence, she failed to reward them with a human-like body. In any case, Necrotica continues the experiment and zealously exterminates anyone who dares to sneak into her abode.
