When I first saw Tails in Sonic 2, I thought it was a girl… That’s where this character came from. Later, when I found out it was a boy, I didn’t bury the idea of Dive, but made her Miles’ twin sister, and, for quite a while, she lived in my fan-fiction. As the sister of a little genius, Dive also possessed remarkable mental abilities. Unlike her brother Miles, she was building animal-themed mechs, and while Miles had the “Tornado”, she had the “Swallow”.
The funny thing was, I wasn’t the only one who thought Tales was a girl. This was a common misconception in our parts… And it lasted until more complex games for the Sega Dreamcast came out, where it was already heard by voice that the character was not of the sex that we all thought 😅
